Fantasy Sports

It’s estimated that fantasy sports is played by roughly 40 million people in the U.S. alone. That number is continuing to grow daily. Why, you might ask? There are many reasons why sports lovers enjoy playing, but to put it simply, it’s a lot of fun! You get to draft your own virtual players from a pool of real players. These players are from real teams from the NFL, MLS, NBA, etc. As the real players compete in games, you earn points based on how they perform in each game. Being your team’s manager, you compete against the other managers in your particular league. As the season goes on, you are in complete charge of your roster. You add, cut and trade players with the other managers.

You already enjoy the sport, and now you will feel like an active participant. Coupled with calculated roster moves, studying all player’s weekly statistics is mandatory. You will make new friends or enjoy time with old friends. In either case, the competitive juices will be flowing as you work feverishly to beat them. The ultimate goal is bragging rights for being the season’s champion!

Most fantasy leagues are now played online, but there are still some local leagues around that operate offline. Many leagues are formed by a group of friends and they play simply for bragging rights. Sometimes it may require a small buy-in investment for playing. Normally, the 1st and 2nd place managers at the end of the season win the monetary prize. For the hardcore, there are “money leagues” out there that require thousands of dollars to buy-in. Daily fantasy sports is another option for the hardcore fantasy sports players.
