Also known as American Football, this sport originated from rugby football and the first game was played in 1869. There are two teams of eleven players and they take turns playing offense and defense. The offense attempts to advance the oval ball (football) down the field by passing or running. Points are scored by advancing the football into the opposing team’s end zone for a touchdown or kicking the ball through the opponent’s goalposts for a field goal. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
